If you are seeking an exciting adventure in snorkeling, then De Palm Island is where you should go. You can not just drive to this unique beach area. You will have to go by ferry. But, you will not be disappointed in this magnificent hidden beach that is more spectacular that any sight you may see.

To get to the ferry you will need to go south on 1A, at the intersection of 1A and 4A turn and go west about 300m, then left for 500m. You should turn just before reaching the Spanish Lagoon. Drive all the way to the coast. Parking is available in the dirt lot. The ferry is to your right.

Many people say this is a great escape that even the kids will love. You can go for ½ day or for a full day. This is a picturesque world with tranquil beaches and crystal clear waters. De Palm feeds the fish in this wonderful aquarium like atmosphere, so many exotic fish greet you as soon as your feet touch the water. This is heaven for snorkelers the world over. The enclosed lagoon with calm, shallow water will be perfect for people of every age to enjoy seeing the coral and marine life.

For more experienced snorkelers, going out past the buoys is where the action is, but this is not necessary to enjoy what De Palm Island has to offer. You will enjoy viewing the shallow reefs in the deeper waters near the buoys, but do be careful; they can be a little dangerous. You will see many exotic and rare marine life such as parrot fish, octopi, peacock flounder, gold-tail eels, trumpets, and hogfish.

The island offers classes for beginners and also helmets which is a great idea for the kids. You can choose a package that includes a half or full day for enjoy everything there is to see and do around De Palm island. The package includes deck chairs, showers, stairs into the water, and meals. Everyone that takes advantage of a full day package agree that it is well worth the cost. An open bar and snorkeling equipment is also included in some of the packages.

Once you set foot on De Palm Island you may never want to leave. Swimming and snorkeling on this beach is like floating along in a large aquarium. The fish and coral reef will be so magnificent to see that I hope you remembered your underwater camera.
